The international campaign to raise awareness of hand washing with soap as a key approach to preventing disease takes place on October 15 of each year. The first Global Hand washing Day theme focused on school children, and has since then grown to include parents, nurses, teachers, doctors, civil society and government representatives in an effort to drive the point that clean hands saves lives.
